One Plus 8T 5G
Overview
OnePlus 8T 5G is released back in 16 October 2020 and now selling at a priced tag of around 42,999/- (8gb-128gb variant) and 45,999/- (12gb-256gb variant). OnePlus 8T comes in two different color variants : Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver.
One Plus 8T features aluminium frame with glass back design and it is different as compared to the OnePlus 8. Their aren’t any curved display anymore but it is good because it makes using the phone easy on edges. The OnePlus 8T is about 8.4mm thick and weighs around 188gms.
The button layout will be familiar to OnePlus users. The power and volume buttons sits on opposite sides of the frame and there is an alert slider also, a USB 3.1 Type-C port for charging and data transfer at the bottom and there is no headphone jack. The OnePlus 8T has a dual-SIM tray but no option to increase storage.
The new Aquamarine green color looks great and comes with glossy finish and OnePlus 8T also comes in Lunar Silver color variant which have matte-frosted finish. The camera module is shifted to the left instead of center and its rounded corners match the soft corners of the rest of the phone.

OnePlus 8T comes with an 6.55 inches Fluid-Amoled display and it also has an impressive 87.0% screen-to-body ratio. The display panel supports upto 120Hz refresh rate which is great in makes the user interface responsive and snappy. OnePlus claims the touch sampling rate has also been bumped up to 240Hz for better touch response.
The display is also HDR 10+ certified and the maximum brightness of the screen is 1,100 nits which is great while using the phone in bright sunlight or using the screen as a torch 🙂 .The resolution of the screen is Full HD+ and it has a aspect ratio of 20:9 and gives a pixel density of around 402 ppi that makes the image looks more sharper. It also has the under screen fingerprint scanner which is the best in my opinion. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

OnePlus 8T uses the same Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor on it’s main camera as it is on the OnePlus 7 series and it gives wonderful shots in bright sunlight , HDR is also handled well colors looks punchy but not over saturated and images are filled with details when zoomed-in.
OnePlus 8T has 16 MP ultrawide camera with 123 degree field-of-view and the images taken are also well saturated, details are also good and it gives a pleasure while shooting ultrawide landscapes.
This phone has a 5MP macro camera for detailed close-up macro shots and it is fun using this macro camera because the image looks great and gives an wonderful experience. Their is also a 2MP mono-chrome lens for black & white portraits which is good.
The OnePlus 8T has solid video recording capabilities. You can record at [email protected] 30fps and switch between the primary and wide-angle cameras. The quality is very good in daylight, except the footage feels shaky while walking. The main camera can record up to [email protected] but you can’t switch betwee lenses.
The selfie camera is still limited to 1080p recording but the stabilization looks pretty well. OnePlus has added some new features to 8T’s camera app – Video Focus Tracking, Video Portrait and Video Nightscape.

The Snapdragon 865 is manufactured at TSMC in the new improved 7nm process which gives 7% higher performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform is a high-end smartphone and tablet SoC. The SoC integrates a fast ‘Prime Core’ that clocks up to 2.84 GHz and three further fast ARM Cortex-A77 performance cores, which can reach up to 2.42 GHz. These are complemented by four power-saving ARM Cortex-A55 cores that clock up to a maximum of 1.8 GHz.
The integrated GPU is now called Adreno 650 and should offer 20% more performance than the Adreno 640 in the Snapdragon 855. The built-in memory controller now supports LPDDR5 with up to 2,750 MHz and LPDDR4X with 2,133 MHz. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, face recognition, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.
As per gaming point-of view this phone can handle any game with ease at max settings. I tested some heavy games like Asphalt 9 , Call of Duty Mobile and even PUBG also runs at highest settings with great framerates.
Battery and Charging
Battery in OnePlus 8T is of 4500 mAh which is not the greatest in any sense but the charging capabilities of OnePlus 8T is quite impressive because it supports 65W Warp charging out of the box which charges the phone in 39mins. up to 100% and in 19mins. it charges upto 50% which is great because none of the phone manufactures line Samsung and Apple provide this kind of charging in this price segment and this is also one of the main selling point of OnePlus 8T 5G.
Verdict
In my opinion OnePlus 8T is an great smartphone and gives good price to performance ratio and even beat some expensive smartphones in this category. This phone has a lot to offer such as great Fluid-Amoled display with 120Hz refresh rate and great camera and software optimization for the camera app .
The latest 5G chipset from Qualcomm Snapdragon 856 which gives great performance at playing games or even using phone day-to-day tasks. The battery is also quite well and in in-box 65W charger gives this phone a must buy if you loves fastcharging and didn’t want to waste your precious time on charging.
As for value, the OnePlus 8T starts at 42,999/- base variant and compared to other smartphones it offers better value as you get more features and better specifications for less.
