Samsung M31 Prime Edition

Samsung M31 Prime is released back in 17 October 2020 and now selling at a priced tag of around 15,999/- (6gb variant). Samsung M31 Prime has two color variants : Ocean Blue and Space Black. This smartphone gives an all-round performance in daily usage and decent gaming experience.

M31prime is powered by Samsung’s own processor Exynos 9611 and equipped with 6gb ram and 128gb internal storage which can be further expandaple upto 512gb through memory card. Samsung M31 Prime runs on latest android 10 and UI(user-interface) is One UI 2.0. It also poses a massive 6000 mAh battery with 15W Type-C fast charger included inside the box.

The design of M31 Prime is similar to it’s predecessor M30s except M31 prime has quad camera setup instead of three cameras at rear. The finger print sensor is at the back which is not good in my opinion because I prefer In-display finger print scanner or the finger print scanner at the side of the phone combined with the power button. The speakers of the phone is quite decent and give good output while watching videos.

Display ratings :-

Now A days many smartphones’s in this price segment comes with high refresh rate screen such as 90Hz but Samsung has it’s different ways, in his latest offering of M31 Prime gives a normal 60Hz panel but it is an SuperAmoled panel rather than IPS Lcd panel which gives us a huge benefit of watching content like Youtube videos, movies, images etc. in great contrast ratio and dynamic range provided by the Amoled panel.

The screen size is of 6.4inches which is more than average for any person and a decent screen-to-body ratio of 84.1% .The resolution of the screen falls under Full HD+ category which is good. The brightness of M31 Prime is 420nits at it’s peak which is quite low in my opinion but it is not a huge problem. Though, you have to face some problems when using in bright sunlight except that the display is upto the mark in every category and gives an immersive experience while using.

Camera ratings :-

The highlights of Samsung M31 Prime is its 64Mp Quad-camera setup which does a significant job while clicking images and recording videos. The photos taken in 64-megapixel main camera in daylight are generally looked good and HDR was handled well, details were good, and colors looked natural but in night-time photography is bad though. The 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera gives an amazing 123 degree field-of-view and the images clicked are nice in my opinion. The 5MP depth camera good and does the job of background blur quite well, and a 5MP macro camera is nice for taking good quality close-up shots.

The camera features include Pro mode , portrait , night mode , 64MP mode , short video , panorama , doc mode, slow-mo, time-lapse, Google lens integration, movie frame, pro colors, and more.

You can shoot Videos upto 1080p @ 30fps which in poor because many other phones can shoot upto 120fps and at [email protected] This smart-phone camera also features gyroscope electronic image stabilization which gives a stable video output while recor-ding.

Hardware and Performance

OSAndroid 10, One UI 2.0
ChipsetExynos 9611 (10nm)
CPUOcta-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53)
GPUMali-G72 MP3
Hardware & Performance ratings :-

The Exynos 9611 is manufactured in the modern 10nm FinFET process and it is a mid-range SoC for Android based smartphones and tablets. It integrates 8 processor cores in two clusters (bigLITTLE concept). Four ARM Cortex A73 cores at up to 2.3 GHz for demanding tasks and four ARM Cortex A53 at up to 1.7 GHz for power efficiency. Com-pared to the older Exynos 9610, the 9611 supports higher resolutions for the rear faced camera.

The integrated LTE modem supports 4G at up to 600 Mbps download and 150 Mbps upload. Furthermore, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 are also integrated in the chip. The on-board ARM Mali-G72 MP3 graphics card offers great performance in any task.

Battery and Charging

Battery ratings :-

Battery in Samsung M31 Prime is of 6000 mAh which is one of the main selling point of this series also the charging capabilities of M31 prime is quite decent because it supports 15W fast charging out of the box which charges the phone pretty fast. Though around this price segment many smartphone comes with higher capacity fast-chargers bundled in the box. But it is not an huge issue as it is considered that if you charge your phone with a normal charger then the life of the battery will last long.

Samsung has seen a huge success with their popularity of M series though the M31 prime is not a new device but much of an upgrade we can say as compare to the M30s.  Samsung M31 Prime around 16k gives an all-round performance like great SuperAmoled Display, good Quad camera setup, fairly decent Exynos 9611 chipset and a massive 6000 mAh battery. So in my opinion I can live with this smartphone using it day and night without any second thought in my mind but as per gamers point of view I might consider other smartphones.
